Life's Abundance Pet Food Carnival Dream Cruise

Congratulations to the First Dream Convention Qualifier!

Life's Abundance is so happy to announce the very first Dream Convention qualifier, Mary DiPerna. Congratulations, Mary! Thanks to her efforts, she has now qualified for two FREE TICKETS to the Life’s Abundance Dream Convention at sea, an incredible seven-day adventure on the spectacular Carnival Dream vessel. Actually, many Field Reps are closing in on their Dream Convention goals, so anticipate further announcements about more qualifiers really soon!

In addition to enjoying the newest Carnival ship and cruising to three tropical ports of call, participants will benefit from three day sessions loaded with training, information and inspiration. If you’re interested in learning how to sell and recruit more effectively, you need to qualify for this convention! Compared with last year’s cruise, they are adding two additional hours of helpful presentations to the sessions, adding up to as much content as previous conventions on land. The CEO, Lester Thornhill, and other company executives will share their insights on the transition to Life’s Abundance and branding, as well as highlight exciting future projects and plans. Of course, our Company Co-founders, Dennis and Carol Berardi, as well as our pet product formulator, Dr. Jane Bicks, will be on board to share their phenomenal recruiting expertise and in-depth product knowledge.

Aside from the educational and motivational factors, the Carnival Dream represents the latest in seafaring luxury and entertainment. At just over 1,000 feet long, it’s the largest vessel in the Carnival fleet. It boasts two main restaurants (the Scarlet and the Crimson), and The Gathering, a wonderful buffet eatery. There’s also plenty of international fare, including an Asian stir fry, a burrito bar, Indian food, a pasta bar and a sushi bar. And, last but not least, there’s the gourmet Chef's Art Steakhouse. For adults, the Serenity Retreat, Cloud 9 Spa, Hit the Jackpot Casino and spectacular lounges are always a hit. For children, Camp Carnival is famous for their entertaining, supervised programs for two-to-eleven year-olds. The outdoor activities are second-to-none with an 18-hole miniature golf course, a 12'x22' jumbo-sized LED screen with a crystal-clear picture and a 70,000-watt sound system, and the Carnival WaterWorks, featuring the Drain Pipe waterslide and a splash zone. Plus … the shows are extravagant and entertaining, and the staterooms are elegant and beautifully appointed. And that’s just the beginning!

Please keep in mind that the number of cabins available to Life's Abundance reps on this new ship is limited, so book your cabin now. If you later qualify for a free cabin (which includes two tickets), we will reimburse you for the cost of that cabin! Also, the cabin prices are subsidized by the company, which is how we can offer you prices discounted even lower than Carnival's (including taxes, government fees and gratuities). So if you decide to comparison shop, please note that the prices on Carnival and many other travel web sites do not include taxes, government fees and gratuities.

Perhaps best of all, there's no need for you to worry about making travel arrangements yourself. Life's Abundance Dream Convention travel agent can book your cabin, offer you a convenient monthly payment plan, and recommend other travel discounts. For complete details about the Dream Convention and cruise vacation, visit the web site today. I want you to join me and build a strong Life's Abundance business too.

Life's Abundance hopes to announce you as the next to qualify for two free tickets very soon, and look forward to sailing with all of our highly valued Field Reps next February! What to make this real? Go to www.pipschoice.com and become a Life's Abundance rep today!!!

Flea Problems for Dogs

Blaming the flea is natural for dog owners when they see their dog itching and scratching more frequently and intensely than usual. Fleas exist by biting and feeding on the blood of their unfortunate host animals, but the bites usually result in just a mild itch. The affected dog nips and scratches at the bite location until the flea dies and that is usually that.

However, some unlucky dogs develop flea allergy dermatitis after being bitten. Flea allergy dermatitis, also known as flea bite hypersensitivity, is characterized as a seasonal allergy. It occurs most frequently in spring and fall when the flea population is at its highest and is caused by an allergic reaction to one or more of the numerous antigens contained in the saliva of the flea.

Unfortunately, this allergy is genetically programmed into the dog. As with any other type of allergic reaction, an overactive immune system makes a dog vulnerable to flea allergy. The flea saliva antigens (foreign proteins located on the outside of saliva bacteria) provoke a heightened immune response in the dog in the form of antibodies (also protein molecules) that attach to the antigens. This antigen-antibody response is referred to as an “immune complex.” A dog’s body may also respond by producing histamines after the dog has been bitten by a flea.

Natural, automatic responses to a flea bite include extreme itching, scratching and biting of the affected area. Do not let the itching and scratching continue indefinitely, as, unfortunately, a heavy flea infestation left unchecked in a small dog or a puppy could eventually lead to severe anemia or death.

Although the likelihood of flea allergy dermatitis has somewhat decreased since the introduction of flea prevention products, studies have shown that approximately 40 percent of dogs nevertheless still suffer from a flea allergy. Dog owners who suspect a flea allergy can have their suspicions confirmed by an intradermal skin test. It is interesting to note that studies have also shown that a large portion of dogs afflicted with flea bite hypersensitivity suffer from inhalant allergies as well.

Hypersensitivity in general can take one of several forms; flea bite hypersensitivity in particular typically produces either an immediate or delayed reaction.

Type 1 (immediate) hypersensitivity takes the form of an immediate and extreme response to a flea bite that is caused by an over-release of histamines and other chemicals (or anaphylaxis). This response occurs within minutes of exposure.

Type 2 (antibody mediated) hypersensitivity is also referred to as autoimmunity because, in this type of allergic reaction, the body produces antibodies to the proteins in its own cells.

Type 3 (immune complex mediated) hypersensitivity causes multiple immune complex responses to develop and lodge in various organs in the body. Rheumatoid arthritis is one example of Type 3 hypersensitivity.

Type 4 (delayed) hypersensitivity is actually a delayed response to the allergen that develops more than 24 hours after exposure. Flea bite hypersensitivity reactions fall under either the Type I or Type IV categories.
Many dog owners turn to commercial topical flea infestation prevention products that are administered monthly to kill fleas before they can attack the dog. Some products also inhibit the fleas’ ability to reproduce, which eventually eliminates the flea infestation all together. If an actual flea infection is present, owners would be wise to treat the entire living environment to supplement flea control treatments for a more rapid elimination of the infestation. This is traditionally accomplished with a thorough house cleaning and the application of carpet shampoos and house sprays.

However, there is evidence that chemical flea prevention treatments such as topical chemicals and flea tags and collars do dogs more harm than good. Dogs have been known to permanently lose hair in the area underneath a flea collar from an allergic reaction to the preventative. Flea tags emit a toxic gas that affects the dog’s nervous system as well as everyone who comes in contact with the dog. You should avoid these products at all cost.

Certainly the best way to treat a flea infestation is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Dogs in poor health attract fleas. Naturally, then, the best way to prevent a flea infection in a dog is to encourage an optimal state of health by feeding a wholesome, natural diet and providing a stable living environment full of exercise and sunshine and regular grooming. A strong, healthy body and immune system is the greatest defense against infestation by fleas.

Natural, nutritional yeast and fresh garlic added to a dog’s daily food ration will strengthen her body. Wash your dog with lemon rinse daily to render the skin less attractive to fleas and use borax based powder on your carpet to reduce the flea population instead of using the commercial flea repellents contained in carpet shampoos. Natural flea infection remedies are the best treatment approach, because the harsh chemicals contained in commercial flea products needlessly stress the already weakened immune system that attracted the fleas in the first place.

Supplementation with all natural vitamins, minerals and herbs has been shown to greatly help dogs suffering from canine flea infections by strengthening the immune system, relieving skin irritation and inflammation and repairing damaged skin and fur. Specially designed formulas with many different combinations of ingredients including multi-letter vitamins, brewer’s yeast and herbs like alfalfa and cat’s claw have shown remarkable results.

Allergies in Dog and How to Help Them

ALLERGIES - that very annoying scratching, itching, biting thing that dogs do.

Causes:
Much like humans, dogs can suffer from a wide range of allergy issues that appear in the form of itchy skin, diarrhea, respiratory problems and ear infections. Caused by a variety of factors, allergies can be extremely troublesome and distressing. Some sources of allergies include diet, environmental factors, or fleas.

Food allergies are becoming increasingly common as the quality of dog foods on the market declines. Most allergy issues come from two main ingredients common among dog foods: meat by-products, and filler grains such as wheat or corn. Unlike food for humans, the USDA doesn’t inspect or certify beef, lamb, fish, and poultry when it is being used for animals. This results in contaminants and illness causing bacteria in your dog’s food. These contaminants and bacteria can be a cause of allergies, in addition to a common allergic reaction to mycotoxins found in filler ingredients themselves. A great food to try is Life's Abundance.

Dogs suffer from environmental allergies much like humans do. Sources of these allergies can range from pollen, human dander, mold, and mites, to allergic reactions caused by contact with irritants. Dogs often develop contact allergies with common plastics, flea collars, plants, or even grass. These allergies often result in a dog that licks, chews and bites at the skin, paws, face, or other parts of the body.

Occasionally, dogs have allergies caused by fleas. These allergies are easily recognizable and remedied. Flea baths or collars can eliminate the cause of the allergy (the fleas); however, if left untreated these allergies can develop into a more serious problem treatable only with costly vet trips.

Symptoms:

Allergies appear as a multitude of symptoms depending upon the dog, and often start out as slight behavioral changes and progress into visible symptoms as the allergies worsen. Changes in behavior may include mood swings, or biting and skittishness in a normally docile dog. Physical symptoms include, but are not limited to, sneezing, watery eyes, fever, low energy, respiratory problems, and excessive itching, biting, or scratching of the skin.

Complications:

The danger of allergies lies in their nature- an allergic reaction is the body’s immune system fighting against pathogens. If left untreated, allergies are extremely prone to further complications that can be costly and hazardous to your dog’s health. A dog with an otherwise healthy immune system is now left prone to a long list of diseases and infections. Complications from allergies may include open wounds, further infections, and respiratory problems.

Scratching, biting, and chewing are very common among allergy suffering dogs. Often times, they tend to scratch in excess causing open wounds, bleeding, and possible infection. Staphylococcal infections are among the most common, caused by open sores and hot spots that are left to fester. Yeast infections are also common, and typically appear in damper regions such as skin folds, ears, or between the toes.

Respiratory issues are a serious complication of allergies and are due to inhaling dust, pollen, and grasses. Reactions can occur in response to exposure to these irritants, or even tainted food. In turn, these reactions can develop into greater lung problems and sinus illnesses. Constant irritation from allergens can damage air sacs and blood vessels, causing greater strain on lung function and breathing ducts. By treating allergies as soon as possible, serious complications can likely be avoided.

Prevention:

Your dog’s first defense against allergies is a healthy body and immune system maintained by proper exercise and nutrition. A weakened immune system is often the beginning of allergy problems which only becomes worse as they manifest themselves.

Regularly exercising and grooming your dog helps keep their bodies healthy and their coats clean. Proper nutrition consists of giving a high quality dog food and a vitamin supplement; both paramount to your dog’s immune system. Feed your dog food that isn’t filled with grains and “meat by-products”- this will have multiple benefits, including stopping allergies from ever invading the intestinal track where they can burrow in and generate secondary illnesses. But dog food alone isn’t enough- supplementation is a vital component to keeping your dog healthy. Giving a high quality supplement can help boost internal defenses and provide nutrition for blood, bones, and skin.

NuVet Plus®, an all natural supplement made from the finest human grade ingredients, is formulated in an FDA approved laboratory used to produce human pharmaceuticals. The use of this kind of high-tech, superior quality manufacturing facility is unheard of in the pet industry, but NuVet Labs® knows that no greater value can be placed on our beloved four legged members of the family. NuVet Plus® is the safe and fast way to improve your dog’s immune system, and prevent allergies once and for all.

Treatment:

Fundamentally, the first line of any remedy is to ensure your dog has a proper diet and balanced nutrition. Providing good food that is full of quality protein and low on grains, corn, and “meat by-products” will ensure a healthy digestive system and strong immune system. Supplementing your dog’s diet with a vitamin supplement engineered to support vital organs prevents the damaging effects of free radicals. Prevention and treatment of allergies and their symptoms is a key component to restoring your dog’s health.

As with any vitamin and nutritional supplement, the quality of ingredients in combination with the manufacturing process determines how effective it will be for your pet. NuVet Plus® contains quality Calcium and Blue Green Algae, a source of protein and chlorophyll. It also includes a full range of amino acids, such as L Methionine- an essential amino acid that helps to detoxify the blood stream, and shown to help alleviate allergies by reducing histamine, which can cause your dog’s eyes to turn red and watery.

At NuVet Labs®, we combine the finest human-grade ingredients and manufacturing operations approved for human products by the FDA. The end result is the finest supplement for your dog- one that is sure to relieve your dog’s allergy problems; we guarantee it.

NuVet Plus® is 100% guaranteed for purity, safety and effectiveness. As one of the oldest and most respected companies in the pet industry, NuVet Labs® pledges that our NuVet Plus® product will eliminate or dramatically reduce your dog’s allergy symptoms within weeks, or we’ll refund your purchase.

Addison's Disease in Dogs and how to Help Them

If people have heard of Addison's Disease at all, it's usually in connections with the late John F Kennedy, who had the disease but kept it quiet during his campaign for the presidency.

Addison’s Disease (also known as Hypoadrenacorticsm) occurs when a dog’s adrenal glands discontinue their normal production levels of Cortisol, a hormone that is secreted during times of stress and anxiety, as well as Aldosterone, which regulates the delicate balance of salt and water in the body.

It is seen mainly in young to middle-aged dogs and in slightly more in females rather than in males. Standard Poodles, Labrador Retrievers and Portuguese Water Dogs seem to have an inherited predisposition to Addison's but it can affect other breeds and mixes of dogs as well.

These two hormones are essential to the health of your pet. Cortisol counteracts Insulin production and helps breakdown lipids and proteins. Aldosterone is released as a response to low salt levels, activating the mineralocorticoid receptors gene (MR gene), which stimulates the kidneys to reabsorb and retain salt. This allows for better water retention, thus keeping your pet hydrated.

There are multiple causes of Addison’s Disease, many related to damage of the adrenal gland or hormone deficiencies.

Sure. We specialize in custom personalized horse halters and dog collars. We can do pet leashes and embroidered dog t-shirts too. We got started around March of 2009 and we started embroidering onesies and selling them on ebay thinking it was just going to be a little side business. That side business started booming and so much so that we had to stop selling on ebay for a while. Now we are reorganized and ready for the volume. I am 29 years old and my mother and I started this together. She is planning on retiring and doing embroidery after she retires. I have 4 boys ages 8 years, 7 years, 4 years and 9 months. We have always hoped for a girl but I'm not sure if that will every happen LOL. We live in Northeastern KY and my husband is a Journeyman Electrical Lineman who is out of work right now but has to work away a lot when he's contracting. We have an assortment of animals including miniature australian shepherds and fainting goats. We also work and sell natural fibers from our three alpacas.

Feline’s Pride Expands Nationwide Recall of its Natural Chicken Formula Cat Food Due to Salmonella Contamination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 15, 2010 - Buffalo, NY – Feline’s Pride is expanding its July 1, 2010 voluntary recall of Feline’s Pride Raw food with ground bone for cats and kittens, Natural Chicken Formula, Net Wt. 2.5 lbs. (1.13 kg., 40 oz.) produced on 6/10/10 to include the product produced on 6/21/10, because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. People handling raw pet food can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the raw pet food or any surfaces exposed to the product.

When consumed by humans, Salmonella can cause an infection, salmonellosis. The symptoms of salmonellosis include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, minimal diarrhea, fever, and headache. Certain vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems, are particularly susceptible to acquiring salmonellosis from such pet food products and may experience more severe symptoms.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The product is packaged in uncoded plastic containers and sold frozen to private consumers nationwide. Once thawed, the pet food has a shelf life of about 1 week. The firm manufactures the pet food by an as-ordered basis. This expansion of the recall affects those orders placed and shipped from June 21 through June 26, 2010 (produced on 6/21/10).

The firm and FDA are investigating this matter to determine the source of this problem, and will take any additional steps necessary to protect the public health.

To date, both the firm and the FDA have received no reports of Salmonella infection relating to this product.

People who are experiencing the symptoms of Salmonella infection after having handled the pet food product should seek medical attention, and report their use of the product and illness to the nearest FDA office.

People should thoroughly wash their hands after handling the pet food – especially those made from raw animal protein such as meat or fish -- to help prevent infection. People may risk bacterial infection not only by handling pet foods, but by contact with pets or surfaces exposed to these foods, so it is important that they thoroughly wash their hands with hot water and soap.

Since certain vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems, are particularly at risk from exposure they should avoid handling this product.

Consumers with questions should contact the company at (716) 580-3096, Monday -Friday from 10 am - 4 pm EDT.

Don't take a chance with your pet's life when feeding any food that has been recalled. The Better Choice is at www.pipschoice.com Life's Abundance Pet Foods

Dog Supplement NuVet ingredient - Beta-Carotene

BETA-CAROTENE - The name "carotene" was first used in the early 19th Century by a scientist named Wachenroder after he discovered he could make a compound from crystallized carrot roots. Beta-carotene is a member of the carotenoids, which are highly pigmented (orange, red, yellow). Fat-soluble compounds are naturally present in many fruits, grains, oils, and vegetables (carrots, green plants, squash, spinach, apricots, and peppers). Alpha, beta, and gamma carotene are considered pro-vitamins because they can be changed to active vitamin A. The precursor to Vitamin A becomes a powerful free radical scavenger in the body. Vitamin A is essential in skeletal growth, testicular and ovarian function, embryonic development, and differentiation of tissues. It is crucial for proper eye function and possible cataract reduction. Vitamin A is necessary for healthy skin and mucous membranes, the body’s first line of defense against invading microorganisms and toxins, and promotes the immune response. Beta-Carotene and Vitamin A destroy carcinogens (cancer-causing agents), guards against heart disease and stroke, and lowers cholesterol.

Feline’s Pride is announcing a voluntary recall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 1, 2010 - Buffalo, NY – Feline’s Pride is announcing a voluntary recall of Feline’s Pride Raw food with ground bone for cats and kittens, Natural Chicken Formula, Net Wt. 2.5 lbs. (1.13 kg., 40 oz.) produced on 6/10/10, because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.

This recall affects only those orders placed and shipped from June 10 through June 17, 2010.

The firm and FDA are investigating this matter to determine the source of this problem, and will take any additional steps necessary to protect the public health.

To date, both the firm and the FDA have received no reports of Salmonella infection relating to this product.

This product should not be fed to pets but should instead be disposed of in a safe manner (e.g., in a securely covered trash receptacle).

Consumers with questions should contact the company at (716) 580-3096, Monday –Friday from 10 am - 4 pm EDT.
