My name is Bobby
Small and Shaggy, Peppy and Fun
Intelligent and Proud
These little guys may look cute and cuddly, but the Westie would much rather be running, jumping, playing and barking than sitting around on some chair looking regal.
Puppy grooming should start as soon as possable to get accustom to the world of
looking good. This is not only important for the appearance of your new puppy but also for his health and well being. Terriers can have an odor problem when not cleansed and groomed. It is also important to maintain a healthy coat so that mats don't get bad that can often lead to skin problems. To ensure your Westie stays healthy start him on
NuVet Plus.
Grooming: Moderately High
Full Grooming should be done every 4 - 6 Weeks
West Highland White Terriers have a double coat. The outer coat is wiry and the soft undercoat is moderately dense and guarded by the outer coat.
Most owners that do not show their dogs will choose to have their Westie clipped using a blade to shorten the body hair. The legs, tail and head are shaped with scissors.
Tools needed are:
The slicker and pin brushes, metal combs, scissors, thinning shears, clippers and blades, toe nail clippers and file, mild shampoo, ear cleaner.
This breed commonly has dry skin so a mild shampoo like oatmeal is good for monthly bathing. A whitening shampoo is great for keeping a westie bright and white. A blueberry facial is a gentle, lightly foaming facial cleanser that soothes and balances. It has natural exfoliating activity and is slightly hydrating. Helps remove dirt and unsightly tear stains, as well as stains around the mouth. Gentle on the eyes. Ask your groomer for a Blueberry facial your pet will love you for it.
