The foundation of good grooming is brushing and combing which loosens and removes dirt, dead hair and skin cells. Brushing followed by combing also distributes the skin's natural oils through the hair to prevent tangles and mats. Daily brushing during the shedding season helps keep skin healthier and less hair flying your house. Be sure to brush down to the skin, not just over the surface of the coat. Don't skip the belly area, this is an area that tends to get the most dirtiest and mats easily. Brushing several times a week keeps the average dog neat and clean, it also provides quality time together.
