The Beagle is a medium-sized dog with a height of 14-16 inches for males and 13-15 inches for females. They are a member of the Hound Group. There are two height classes of beagles in the AKC, the 13-15 inches tall and under 13 inches tall. Their average weight is 22-25 pounds.
Grooming the Beagle's smooth short-haired coat is very easy. Brush the coat with a firm bristle brush, and bathe with mild shampoo. I like to use an oatmeal shampoo to help soothe the skin as well as eliminate odors. This sturdy little breed is an average shedder so I also will use the FURminator treatment to help with all the hair. The ears are carefully cleaned and checked and the nails are trimmed.
The beagle can be prone to heart disease, epilepsy, eye and back problems so to protect them use NuVet Plus.
