This is Chloe, she is a Standard Poodle Australian Shepard mix. When she came in for her groom, she had very long curly hair. Her owner likes to have all her hair clipped down short especially in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. Today, we got 8 inches of snow so Chloe is all set to run and play and not get covered in snowballs.

For her groom....

I used a #4 blade with my Hanvey Taxi Vac to remove the much of her coat. I used the same blade on her legs and scissored any stray hair that needed to be neatened. For her head, I use a 33/4 blade to shorten her hair on top of her head and used a 10 blade on her face. She was given a WhyB Itch shampoo and a coat conditioner.

When she was all done, I put some Happy New Year bows in her hair, a spritz on Gingerbread cologne and she is ready to party.

This is a very lovable red Pomeranian. A Pom should be groomed every 4 weeks, as their hair tends to mat up a bit. They are heavy shedders and need to be brushed daily if possible.

The shipment and warehousing of pet foods is something most pet food buyers never take into consideration. Most people are only concerned with a pretty bag and a bargain price. But buyer beware! What you don't know can hurt you.
Petco recently found it's Joliet warehouse being raided by the Feds as a result of "unsanitary conditions" as described in a warrant issued by the United States District Court in Chicago. U.S. Marshals seized all FDA-regulated animal food susceptible to rodent and pest contamination. The seized products violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because it was alleged in a case filed by the United States Attorney that they were being held under unsanitary conditions. (The Act uses the term "insanitary" to describe such conditions.
The distribution center in Joliet, Ill., provides pet food products and supplies to PETCO retail stores in 16 states including Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

On the Process of Bathing a Puppy

When you need the bathe your dog there are a few things to keep in mind.
It need not to be a chore, it's a time for bonding and can be a lot of fun. It is a time set aside to show him or her how much you care. After all, a clean pet is a happy pet. To feel clean makes your pet want to run and be playful, to roll around the floor, to jump and wag their tails. Bosco, my dog, loves the feel of being groomed and washed, he does all of the above and truly changes his composure. I love It....

When you start bathing your dog as a puppy, be gentle and speak soft words to him so to make him feel safe. Start with a small amount of water poured over his back and then add a dab of shampoo such as Isle Of Dogs or a dog shampoo with natural essential oils to his coat. With a tender touch, work the shampoo into a lather and rub away the dirt. Continue this process until you have completely covered the entire dog. In doing this I must emphasis to pay close attention to not get any shampoo in the pups eyes, ears and nose. Let the shampoo sit for a few minutes in order to let the natural oils sink into the coat. Rinse the shampoo out of the coat and rinse again until you know longer see any suds. After that, guess what? rinse again, it is so very important to get all the shampoo out of the coat. Wipe the water off the body, use your hands to gentle squeeze the water off the legs and tail. Wrap a clean white towel around your puppy and dry the hair.

Result.... one clean, squeaky, great smelling puppy to cuddle and enjoy.

Q Which FRR dog food would be best for a dog that seems to have a problem with acid reflux? He seems to throw up occasionally also. He has been checked by two vets and there is no reason found for this happening, so I am concerned it is his dog food and would like to try the best Flint River Ranch that might best suit him.

A Feed the FRR LMR as it is formulated for easy digestion and contains probiotics to aid in digestion. Feed the dog his daily food amount over 2-3 smaller meals a day, rather than all at once. Here's Snickers.... He comes in about every 6 weeks to be groomed. I give him a nice soothing shampoo bath and conditioner. I then use a longer blade on his back and scissor his legs. His face hair around his eyes and mouth gets shortened and I trim just a little off his ears to keep them even with the rest of his head.

10 Week old Yorkshire Puppy

This is thee most cutest puppy I have seen in a long time. Pippin was my favorite cutest puppy, but this one is so adorable. She is 10 weeks old and came into the grooming parlor with her new mommy to pick up big sister. I couldn't resist to take a picture. Here is big sister Precious. She is loving her little sister and can't wait to play when they get home.

Matted Dog Before & After

Here is a cutie dog that came in with a mat problem.

I didn't want to shave him right down and I was very glad I didn't have too. I bathed him in 'Why B Itch' shampoo and used 'Quicker Slicker' spray when I dried him. The result was great. I used a 4F blade to leave some length and scissored his legs, head and tail. He was so happy to be mat free. Now he is looking very festive in his witch hat. BOO!!

M.D.C. Romani Clipper Vac

This year at Groom Expo in Hershey PA, the M.D.C. Romani Clipper Vac took on some of the Groomer Has It stars. In this picture you can see two of the contestants being instructed by one of the Romani girls. These vacs are great and no shop should be without one. They cut the grooming time almost in half, scissoring is reduced by 80%, they help reduce repetitive motion, improved ergonomics, leaves beautiful haircuts and best of all you have a clean hair free environment.

Australian Shepherd Mix

This handsome boy is Wrangler. He is an Australian Shepherd mix. For grooming, I gave him a good bath using my Bathing Beauty bathing system. He had some matting in his pants or rear end area and was starting to shed out a lot of coat. After the bath I use a force air dryer and got most of the matted air unmatted. This makes the finishing brush out so mush easier for both him and me. Once he was dry, I just lightly scissored his coat to make a neat appearance.

Take this one for instance, what Pittsburgh Steeler fan wouldn't want to show off their team spirit with this cool cat? Here the kitty is transformed into one of the players. A little less hair and a great new look. The cats are not harmed in any way in doing this. Most will not mind at all. A clipper is used to shave off the longer fur and then some non-toxic, child safe Blo-pens are used to fill in the color.

Now that's a cool cat if I ever saw one.
